Le nouveau système d’arme laser (Laser Weapon System – LaWS) de l’US Navy, qui est testé depuis des mois dans le golfe Persique, a récemment atteint ses premiers succès. Dans la vidéo ci-dessous, vous pouvez voir comment le canon laser atteint d’une manière très précise un drone.
Avec un dispositif qui ressemble à un contrôleur Playstation, le laser est focalisé sur la cible.
Ce sont les premiers essais réussis du laser installé sur l’USS Ponce dans le golfe Persique. « Les armes laser sont puissantes, abordables et joueront un rôle important dans les opérations futures, » a déclaré l’amiral Matthew L. Klunder dans un communiqué de presse. Bien que le développement de l’arme coûtera des millions de dollars, la Marine américaine se réjouit des coûts d’utilisation. « Avec moins d’un dollar par coup, il n’y a pas de doute sur l’intérêt de telles armes », a conclu l’Amiral.
