Andrzej Duda, candidat du parti Droit et Justice (PiS) dirigé par Jaroslaw Kaczynski, frère jumeau de l’ancien président Lech Kaczyński décédé lors du crash de son avion alors qu’il se rendait aux cérémonies commémoratives du 70e anniversaire du massacre de Katyń, a été élu hier nouveau président de la Pologne par 53% des suffrages.
Jaroslaw Kaczynski avait dirigé le pays avec son frère. Il s’était distingué par une politique fortement hostile à l’avortement, à la décadence sociétale (homosexualité) et à l’Union Européenne, et avait dirigé le pays avec le parti catholique « la Ligue des familles polonaises » (LPR).
Le président en Pologne a peu de pouvoir ; Jaroslaw Kaczynski pourra difficilement influer la politique pro européenne et de culture de mort menée par Mme Ewa Kopacz, premier ministre, issue du parti libéral Plateforme civique (PO) au pouvoir depuis bientôt huit ans. Il faudra au nouveau président patienter jusqu’en octobre 2015, date des prochaines élections législatives, pour espérer voir un premier ministre de sa majorité gouverner avec lui ; peut-être Jaroslaw Kaczynski !
