Le chanteur italien aveugle Andrea Bocelli vient de raconter, en parlant et s’accompagnant au piano, comment il a failli ne pas naître. Lorsque sa mère était enceinte, elle a fait une crise d’appendicite et fut hospitalisée. Quand les choses s’arrangèrent après divers traitements, il lui fut expliqué que son enfant risquait d’être infirme. Lui sera alors proposé l’avortement. Elle refusa et c’est comme cela que le chanteur a pu charmer le monde avec sa voix.
La chanteuse canadienne Céline Dion raconte comment elle aussi aurait pu être avortée. Quand sa mère apprit qu’elle était à nouveau enceinte, elle le considéra comme une catastrophe, car ce serait le quatorzième enfant de la famille. La maman demanda à un prêtre de la conseiller ; ce dernier lui rappela la position de l’Eglise sur la question. Il ajouta que c’était contraire à la nature d’avorter. Elle renonça à l’avortement. La chanteuse déclare : « D’une certaine façon, je dois ma vie à ce prêtre… Quand ma mère a dépassé son désappointement, elle n’a pas perdu son temps en s’apitoyant sur elle-même et m’aima passionnément comme on peut aimer son petit dernier. »
C’est ainsi que furent sauvées les plus belles voix du monde. Les deux vedettes internationales se sont rencontrées plusieurs fois et ont chanté sur scène un air qui a fait le tour du monde The Prayer, la Prière. Ils terminent toujours leurs concerts par cette merveilleuse chanson. A noter que Céline Dion a chanté plusieurs fois pour différents papes et notamment à 16 ans pour Jean-Paul II.
