Amir Haddad, né Laurent Amir Khlifa Khedider Haddad, d’un père d’origine juive tunisienne et d’une mère d’origine juive marocaine, représentera la France au concours Eurovision de la chanson.
A l’âge de huit ans, Amir Haddad est parti avec ses parents vivre en Israël. En 2006, étudiant ç l’Université hébraïque de Jérusalem, il s’était fait connaître en participant à Kokhav Nolad, une émission de variété de la télévision israélienne.
En 2011, il sort son premier album qui reprend une version en hébreu d’une chanson de Patrick Bruel.
En 2014, il s’est marié en Israël avec Lital.
« J’avais peur des réactions en France quand le public découvrirait que je suis israélien. Il y a l’histoire de Dieudonné et je pensais être la cible des antisémites, mais pas du tout, je reçois énormément de commentaires positifs sur Twitter pour me soutenir.« , déclarait-il au média israélien Ynet.
C’est ce 29 février 2016 que France 2 a annoncé qu’Amir Haddad représentera la France à l’Eurovision mais l’animateur de télévision Cyril Hanouna avait déjà lancé la rumeur dès le 25 février.
