« Alexa, est-ce son mari qui l’a tuée ? » C’est la question que posent des policiers américains, enquêtant sur l’homicide d’une femme, Sylvia Galva Crespo, à l’assistant vocal d’Amazon. Alexa, l’assistant intelligent désormais présent dans de très nombreuses habitations (plus de 100 millions de dispositifs vendus), pourrait bien être le principal témoin capable de dénoncer l’auteur de cet homicide.
Pour l’instant, le mari de 43 ans accusé de l’homicide soutient que la mort de sa femme était un accident. Pour résoudre le cas, les enquêteurs sont convaincus qu’ils leur faut interroger l’intelligence artificielle d’Amazon Echo. Alexa pourrait avoir écouté et enregistré la conversation houleuse entre les deux époux juste avant la mort de Sylvia. « Les preuves du crime, c’est-à-dire les enregistrements audio de l’attaque à Sylvia Crespo survenue dans la chambre à coucher de la maison pourraient être dans le serveur géré par et pour Amazon » lit-on dans le rapport de la police. « Nous avons reçu les bandes et nous analysons les contenus » explique le sergent Pedro Abut.
Ce n’est pas la première fois qu’Alexa est impliquée dans des affaires de crimes. Au-delà de son côté sordide, cette triste histoire donne une preuve supplémentaire qu’Amazon a son espion attitré, petite boite sans prétention connectée, dans des millions de maisons du monde entier ! La surveillance planétaire n’est pas une théorie du complot, elle est une réalité.
