Espagne – Un réseau d’esclavage a été démantelé par les autorités espagnoles avec l’aide d’Europol (l’Interpole européen). Sept hommes ont été arrêtés en Espagne. Ils sont soupçonnés d’avoir fait entrer plus de 300 immigrés clandestins en Europe. Les sept individus arrêtés ne sont pas considérés comme des passeurs, mais comme des hommes trafiquants d’êtres humains car ils revendaient les immigrés clandestins comme esclaves en France, en Allemagne, et en Grande-Bretagne.
Les immigrés, partis d’Afrique de l’Ouest et arrivés clandestinement en Espagne par bateau avec l’aide de passeurs, étaient immédiatement pris en charge par ce vaste réseau très organisé. Les trafiquants leur fournissaient des faux papiers et leur faisaient miroiter un Eldorado en Europe. Mais ils finissaient esclaves de réseaux qui les forçaient à la mendicité ou les plaçaient sur des chantiers.
Maria Buyo, porte-parole de la police espagnole, raconte : « Nos hommes ont obtenu des informations comme quoi il y avait deux personnes suspectes à un arrêt de bus de la ville de San Sebastian. Ils attendaient de transférer des étrangers jusqu’à la gare et dans notre enquête, on s’est rendu compte que plus de 300 personnes avaient traversé l’Espagne de cette manière. Les migrants étaient acheminés en train, en taxi, et en bus afin d’être acheminés vers d’autres réseaux afin d’être exploités. »
