L’avocate et activiste LGBT Caroline Mécary sera candidate « d’ouverture » (c’est-à-dire candidate venant d’EELV sur une liste PS) en cinquième position dans le XIVe arrondissement, dont la tête de liste pour le Parti socialiste est Carine Petit.
Caroline Mécary, conseillère régionale EELV, explique que s’il existe une liste Europe Écologie Les Verts autonome pour le premier tour du scrutin municipal, il y aura fusion des listes pour le second.
Diverses figures du lobby homosexuel annoncent s’engager dans ces élections municipales pour «faire gagner Anne Hidalgo». Outre Caroline Mécary (qui avait rejoint en 2012 le conseil d’administration d’Oser Paris, l’association de soutien à la candidature d’Anne Hidalgo à la mairie de Paris), Jean-Luc Romero sera également candidat dans cet objectif.

Caroline Mécary, pacsée avec une scénographe depuis 2007, est une militante LGBT bien connue. Elle fut « marraine » de la « Marche des Fiertés LGBT » mais on se souvient surtout d’elle lorsqu’elle fut choisie par SOS Homophobie et Act Up en 2005 pour poursuivre le député Christian Vanneste en justice pour « injures homophobes ». Après une longue procédure, en novembre 2008, Christian Vanneste avait obtenu gain de cause auprès de la Cour de cassation qui avait considéré que le parlementaire n’avait pas dépassé les limites de la liberté d’expression en considérant que « l’homosexualité était une menace pour la survie de l’humanité » et « qu’elle était inférieure à l’hétérosexualité ».
Caroline Mécary est également présidente d’honneur de la Fondation Copernic, think tank d’ultra-gauche.
