Le 5 décembre, Daniel Keller, nouveau « grand maître » du Grand Orient de France (GODF) sera présent à Lille dans le cadre de la « Journée de la laïcité ». La loge lilloise de la rue Thiers accueillera une « tenue blanche ouverte », ce qui signifie une réunion en présence de personnes qui ne sont pas franc-maçonnes mais qui auront néanmoins fait l’objet d’une sélection drastique. Ils seraient une centaine de « profanes » à avoir reçu une invitation pour cette réunion maçonnique.
Les francs-maçons devraient, toutes obédiences confondues, être très mobilisés dans les prochains jours afin de donner de l’écho à la recommandation faite au gouvernement par l’Observatoire de la laïcité d’instituer une Journée nationale de la laïcité le 9 décembre de chaque année.
Le Grand Orient compterait près de 1000 membres dans la métropole et environ 52.000 répartis en 1.150 loges à travers la France. Dans la région, le Grant Orient est bien représenté en politique et notamment dans les conseils municipaux de Lille, Roubaix, Tourcoing, Armentières, Ronchin, Lomme, Lambersart ou de Marcq-en-Barœul.
