Des marées d’immigrés arrivent jour après jour entassés sur des embarcations à l’état d’épaves. Des photos nous en avertissent depuis des années déjà, sans que cela n’entraîne de véritable prise de conscience.
Alors le rythme s’accélère. Les bateaux se font plus nombreux. Et l’immigration incontrôlée prend une dimension massive qui submerge les côtes italiennes, portes d’entrée vers le vieux continent erronément considéré comme un Eldorado capable d’accueillir et d’enrichir la planète entière.
Entre le 18 octobre 2013 et le 10 avril 2014, ils ont été plus de 18.500 migrants à entrer de la sorte en Italie. Ce n’est rien à côté de ce qui se passe ces jours-ci.
Plus de 850 migrants samedi et dimanche derniers. Encore 200 lundi matin. La semaine dernière, en quatre jours à peine, 6.000 réfugiés, entassés à bord d’une quarantaine de bateaux, ont mis pied sur sol italien.
