L’Hospitalet de Llobregat est une localité de la région de Barcelone connue notamment pour sa procession traditionnelle escortée par la Hermandad de Antiguos Caballeros Legionarios en uniforme.
Mais les élus de gauche de la municipalité ont obtenu une majorité pour refuser désormais cette procession qui ne correspondrait pas « aux valeurs de convivialité, de laïcité et de tolérance propre à une société démocratique », selon le texte approuvé par les élus.
Le Père Custodio Ballester qui participe habituellement à cette procession est lui-aussi la cible directe d’attaques des milieux laïcistes qui l’accusent d’être un facteur « de crispation » et demandent à l’Archevêque de Barcelone de le décharger de sa paroisse !
Le prêtre considère, lui, que ces élus veulent empêcher les catholiques d’exprimer librement leur Foi. Une pétition a déjà recueilli 31.000 signatures.
