L’armée syrienne et les rebelles avaient signé un accord pour permettre l’évacuation de la ville de Homs. Celle-ci s’effectue depuis mercredi et s’est terminée vendredi. C’est à peu près 2000 personnes qui ont été évacuées. C’est une victoire de la plus haute importance pour Assad et l’armée syrienne avant l’élection présidentielle du 3 juin. C’est la première fois depuis fin 2011 que l’armée pénètre dans la vieille ville de Homs (centre), cité surnommée la « capitale de la révolution » d’où avait été lancée l’insurrection. La prise de cette ville est cruciale car elle relie la capitale Damas au littoral ouest de même que le nord au sud du pays, ce qui facilite les déplacements des renforts notamment. C’est une preuve de plus que les rebelles sont en perte de vitesse en Syrie.
