Paul VI, un saint de l’Eglise catholique ?    Lors de sa rencontre avec les prêtres et les diacres du diocèse de Rome à la cathédrale Saint-Jean-de-Latran, le 15 février 2018, le pape François a annoncé la canonisation de Paul VI pour cette année (1963-1978). Le 6 février dernier, le site italien Vatican Insider informait de la reconnaissance unanime d’un nouveau miracle attribué au pape Paul VI, par la réunion des évêques et cardinaux de la Congrégation des causes des saints. La « béatification » du pape Paul VI a déjà été proclamée le 19 octobre 2014 après la reconnaissance d’un miracle attribué à son intercession. Et pourtant… Dans ses Mémoires, le cardinal Danéliou écrit explicitement : « Il est évident que Paul VI est un pape libéral » et le libéralisme est l’un des pires péchés. Mgr Lefebvre confirmait : « ce pape-là est comme un fruit du libéralisme, toute sa vie a été imprégnée par l’influence des hommes qui l’entouraient ou qu’il a pris pour maîtres et qui étaient des libéraux ». De même Paul VI soutint pendant tout le Concile la faction libérale qui s’opposait à la tradition de l’Eglise. M. Louis Salleron le décrit ainsi : « il a le visage double », « dont le visage contrasté exprime la dualité : tantôt traditionnel en paroles, tantôt moderniste dans ses actes ; tantôt catholique dans ses prémisses, ses principes, et tantôt progressiste dans ses conclusions, ne condamnant pas ce qu’il devrait condamner et condamnant ce qu’il devrait conserver ! » (Mgr Lefebvre). Que vaut l’hypothèse de cette canonisation ?
