Le tout nouveau Premier ministre polonais, Mateusz Morawiecki, a appelé l’Union européenne à revenir à ses « propres valeurs » et à ses racines chrétiennes traditionnelles.
Mateusz Morawiecki, a déclaré que son rêve était de « christianiser à nouveau l’UE » dans une interview accordée à une chaîne de télévision catholique.
La Pologne est une «grande et fière nation», a-t-il déclaré à TV Trwam, ajoutant qu’il ne se soumettrait pas au «chantage» des dirigeants européens.
Ses commentaires sont venus après que le Parlement européen a approuvé une résolution qui menaçait la Pologne de sanctions si elle approuvait une série de mesures, dont l’un est un plan de restriction des avortements en raison de problèmes de santé fœtale.
Le Parlement européen a également critiqué les réformes judiciaires proposées pour approbation en Pologne qui forceraient 40% des juges de la Cour suprême polonaise à se retirer.
La résolution indiquait que les mesures proposées constituaient une « violation grave des valeurs européennes » et exigeait également que la Pologne « prenne une position ferme sur les droits des femmes, en fournissant des contraceptifs gratuits et accessibles sans discrimination ».
Interrogé sur le risque que l’UE coupe les fonds à la Pologne, Morawiecki a fait allusion à l’ancien président français François Hollande: » Je me souviens qu’un ancien président nous avait dit plus tôt cette année: » Vous avez des valeurs, nous avons des fonds « . Eh bien, moi j’aimerais aider l’Occident avec les bonnes valeurs . «
Mateusz Morawiecki succède à Beata Szydło, qui a présenté sa démission la semaine dernière après une réorganisation du Parti du Droit et de la Justice, qui gouverne le pays.
