A contre-courant de la pensée dominante, Marie-Christine Arnautu, eurodéputé du Front National, est intervenue à propos du rejet de l’accord de Paris sur le climat par le Président américain Donald Trump. Elle dénonce dans son intervention l’hypocrisie de l’Union Européenne :
« Dans un hémicycle climatisé à outrance, déclare-telle ironiquement, et empli de députés venus en avion des quatre coins de l’Europe, cette énième condamnation du président des États-Unis me semble aussi hypocrite que celle des Saoudiens dénonçant le soutien du Qatar aux mouvements djihadistes. »
Et défend la ligne de conduite de Donald Trump qui a le souci des emplois américains, en ironisant encore fois sur l’incompétence mêlée d’orgueil de l’UE :
« Vous feriez mieux d’en prendre exemple vous qui êtes incapables de lutter contre le chômage et le terrorisme mais qui prétendaient agir sur le climat. »
