C’est une claque cinglante pour le Front National de Marine Le Pen version Philippot et un avertissement qui montre les limites de la dédiabolisation. Car si la dédiabolisation a libéré de larges pans électoraux sur la gauche, cette élection montre qu’un espace non négligeable peut aussi venir menacer le FN sur sa droite, et dans des proportions qui pourraient s’avérer non négligeables.
En effet, la Ligue-du-Sud a battu le Front National à 66,67% contre 33,33%. Yann Bompard, fils de Jacques Bompard, député-maire d’Orange et fondateur de la Ligue-du-Sud, et Marie-Thérèse Galmard retrouvent ainsi leurs sièges au conseil départemental de Vaucluse, sièges qu’ils avaient perdus, leur élection ayant été invalidée à la demande…du Front National !
Le scrutin a été réalisé avec un taux de participation de 24,61 %. Les Républicains ont été éliminés dès le 1er tour, tandis que le PS n’a pas osé présenter de candidat !
