Abubakar Shekau, fondateur de Boko Haram, avait en mars 2016 fait allégeance à l’Etat Islamique et à son calife auto-proclamé. Mais cette union de djihadistes n’aura pas duré longtemps.
Dans le dernier numéro d’Al-Nabaa, magazine en langue arabe de l’Etat Islamique, figurait un entretien avec Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, désigné par Abou Bakr al-Baghdadi, le calife de l’EI, comme le nouveau chef de Boko Haram. Shekau, fondateur de Boko Haram, étant considéré par l’Etat Islamique comme… trop « extrémiste » !
Dimanche soir, Shekau a réagi via une vidéo diffusée par le GSPJ, organisation de propagande de Boko Haram. Le message est adressé avec solennité à l’Etat Islamique. Shekau s’y déclare seul chef de « Jama’atu Ahlissunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad » (la Communauté des compagnons du prophète pour la propagation de l’islam et la guerre sainte), nouvelle dénomination officielle de Boko Haram après son allégeance à l’EI, et appelle le « calife » Abou Bakr al-Baghdadi à le reconnaître. Shekau se proclame également imam et promet d’intensifier son combat djihadiste en lançant au passage quelques nouvelles menaces à la France et aux Etats-Unis.
