Le Parti populaire et nationaliste « Notre Slovaquie » (LSNS) a annoncé qu’il allait lancer une pétition dès le 27 juin réclamant un référendum sur la sortie de l’Union européenne. « Les citoyens britanniques se sont prononcés contre le diktat de Bruxelles. Il est grand temps que la Slovaquie quitte aussi le Titanic européen en plein naufrage », a martelé samedi son président Marian Kotleba après le vote du Brexit.
Est inscrit dans le droit slovaque le référendum d’initiative populaire. La pétition déclenchant le référendum doit recueillir 350.000 signatures dans un pays qui compte 5,4 millions d’habitants.
Kotleba est président de la région moyenne-slovaque Banska Bystrica. Aux législatives de mars dernier, son parti a recueilli 8,6% des suffrages après avoir mené une campagne anti-immigrationniste.
