Cet enlèvement a eu lieu ce mercredi 24 mars dans le village de Sabon Gari de l’Etat d’Adamawa au nord du Nigeria. Le porte-parole de la police de l’Etat Othman Abubakar, qui a confirmé ces derniers enlèvements a précisé que l’autorité de l’Etat avait envoyé un détachement d’officiers de police à la zone touchée et ces officiers travaillent 24h/24 pour traquer les femmes enlevées. Adamu Kamale, un député de la région, s’est dit consterné et indigné de l’enlèvement de ces 16 femmes et a fustigé l’insouciance du gouvernement qui avait semblé minimiser leurs préoccupations : « J’ai appelé à plusieurs reprises au déploiement du personnel de sécurité, mais en vain car le gouvernement semble avoir ignoré nos préoccupations ».
Ces femmes ont été enlevées alors qu’elles partaient chercher du bois de chauffage dans une forêt environnante. Deux femmes ont tout de même réussi à s’échapper.
