La guerre de communication passe aussi par le contrôle des informations disponibles sur internet. A ce titre, les fiches Wikipédia font l’objet d’un âpre travail pour en influencer le contenu.
Or Le Canard enchaîné révèle que Wikipédia a bloqué pour un an l’une des adresses IP (numéro de serveur informatique) les plus actives du ministère de l’Intérieur, au motif qu’elle servait à ce que Wikipédia appelle des « actes de vandalisme » de ses articles.
Cette adresse IP, commune à plusieurs postes de travail du ministère de l’Intérieur, est à l’origine de 4.000 modifications d’articles de Wikipédia depuis 2007.
Toujours selon Le Canard enchaîné, un fonctionnaire du ministère avait tenté à de multiples reprises en 2013 de modifier la fiche du préfet de police de l’époque, Bernard Boucault, afin d’effacer la trace de ses démêlés avec les opposants à la loi Taubira. A l’époque, déjà, l’adresse IP du ministère avait été temporairement bloquée par Wikipédia.
