Discours enflammé de l’eurodéputé Godfrey Bloom le 21 novembre 2013 sur les privilèges énormes des politiciens et autres technocrates européens au parlement de Strasbourg :
« L’Etat est une institution de voleurs, l’imposition est simplement un moyen par lequel les politiciens et les technocrates volent l’argent de leurs citoyens pour le dilapider de la plus honteuse façon. C’est fascinant et je me demande comment vous arrivez à garder votre sérieux tout en parlant d’évasion fiscale. La commission dans son intégralité et les bureaucrates ne paient pas d’impôts. Vous ne payez pas d’impôts au même titre que les citoyens. Vous avez toutes sortes de privilèges: taux d’imposition convertis, plafonds d’impôts sur la grande fortune, retraites non imposables. Vous êtes les champions de l’évasion fiscale en Europe et pourtant vous êtes là assis à donner des leçons. Mais bon, les gens de l’Union européenne ont compris le message et vous allez bientôt vous rendre compte que les eurosceptiques vont se faire de plus en plus nombreux en juin prochain. Et je vais vous dire encore pire, quand les gens se seront vraiment rendu compte de qui vous êtes il ne leur faudra pas longtemps pour prendre cette chambre d’assaut et vous pendre. Et ils auront raison. »
Godfrey Bloom a siégé comme membre du Parti pour l’indépendance du Royaume-Uni (UKIP), qui a refusé de faire alliance avec le Front national jugé antisémite… M. Bloom a démissionné du parti de Nigel Farage le 13 octobre 2014.
