Le Premier ministre croate Zoran Milanovic a déclaré ne pas être en mesure de pourvoir confirmer à 100% la mort de son compatriote. « Pour l’heure, nous ne pouvons pas confirmer à 100% que ceci est vrai, et je ne sais pas si nous pourrons le faire dans les prochains jours, mais ce que nous voyons n’a pas l’air bon, a l’air horrible », a déclaré Zoran Milanovic à la presse. « Nous n’arrêterons pas de le chercher tant qu’il y aura le moindre espoir de le retrouver », a néanmoins ajouté le Premier ministre.
Si la mort de l’otage se confirme, ce serait la première fois qu’un étranger est enlevé et tué par des jihadistes en Égypte.
