De retour du Liban où il a rencontré des exilés syriens chrétiens, Stoyan Zaimov, reporter du Christian Post, livre leurs témoignages.
Ces chrétiens assyriens, en fuite devant l’avancée barbare de l’Etat Islamique, ont trouvé refuge à Beyrouth. Leurs enfants ont été forcés d’assister à des décapitations et à d’autres atrocités commises par ces fanatiques de l’EI. Les parents parlent des traumatismes et des séquelles psychologiques qu’ils observent chez leurs enfants.
D’autre part, ces familles réfugiées au Liban rappellent que plus de 200 Assyriens sont en ce moment otages de l’Etat Islamique. Les djihadistes réclament aux familles des otages des rançons d’un montant généralement impayable.
Parmi les témoignages recueillis par le journaliste du Christian Post, certains chrétiens parvenus à fuir racontent les conditions de vie dans la région d’Hassake. Les chrétiens qui refusent de se convertir ont le choix entre l’impôt de dhimmitude ou la mort. Ceux qui sont en mesure de payer l’impôt vivent en sous-citoyens, avec, par exemple, interdiction de se déplacer en voiture, interdiction de porter une croix et, bien sûr, obligation pour les femmes de se voiler complètement.
