Au Nigéria également, les chrétiens sont régulièrement attaqués par des musulmans. Au moins 37 personnes ont été massacrées par des hommes armés, dans des villages de l’Etat du Plateau, dans le centre du Nigeria, a annoncé l’armée nigériane ce mardi. Le drame s’est produit dans la région du Barkin Ladi, vers 02h00 du matin (01h00 GMT), a précisé Salisu Mustapha, porte-parole de l’armée nigériane. Selon lui, 13 personnes ont été tuées dans le village de Katu Kapang, 8 à Daron, 9 à Tul et 7 à Rawuru.
Situé entre la frontière du sud du pays majoritairement chrétien et le nord à majorité musulman, le centre du Nigeria, notamment l’Etat du Plateau, est régulièrement le théâtre de violences antichrétiennes.
Les éleveurs de bétail de l’ethnie fulani-hausa, principalement musulmans, ont déjà commis plusieurs dizaines d’attaques lancées contre des cultivateurs Bérom, à majorité chrétiens.
La tension est toujours vive également dans le nord du Nigeria, où l’armée a lancé une vaste offensive contre l’organisation islamique terroriste Boko Haram, en mai dernier. Même si la nébuleuse a déjà commis des attaques dans l’Etat du Plateau, rien n’indiquait cette fois-ci son implication dans le massacre de l’Etat du Plateau. En attendant, l’armée poursuit sa traque contre les membres de cette organisation terroriste islamique. Boko Haram est responsable de la mort de plus de 3 600 personnes dans le pays.
