L’ancien président de l’UMP, Jean-François Copé, a été mis en examen mardi pour « abus de confiance » dans l’enquête sur les pénalités infligées à l’ex-chef de l’État Nicolas Sarkozy. L’amende de 363.615 euros infligée par le conseil constitutionnel à Nicolas Sarkozy avait été payée par l’UMP.
Durant cinq heures, le député-maire de Meaux a été entendu par les juges Serge Tournaire et Renaud van Ruymbeke au pôle financier du parquet de Paris. Selon ses avocats, Jean-François Copé a assumé le payement de l’amende par l’UMP à la suite du « Sarkothon ».
Il s’agit de la seconde mise en examen dans ce dossier, après celle en décembre de l’ex-trésorière de l’UMP Catherine Vautrin, également pour « abus de confiance ».
