Descendant d’une famille de Juifs polonais arrivés en France en 1922, Michel Cymes, chirurgien ORL, passe plus de temps sur les plateaux de télévision qu’en consultation médicale. Depuis 1991, on le voit régulièrement en tant que chroniqueur médical. Ces dernières années, ses propos abordent plus souvent des questions de sexualité que d’ORL, c’est plus vendeur à l’écran…
En 1997, le journal Libération avait considéré que le Docteur Michel Cymes était un « équilibriste à vaciller sur le fil déontologique ». En février 2011, dans le cadre d’un article sur les médecins journalistes, Rue 89 émettait des interrogations sur ses revenus industriels et sur ses liens avec la société Medical Debat.
Michel Cymes a également fait une courte apparition au cinéma dans le film La Vérité si je mens 3.
Depuis 2011, son frère Franck est directeurs des Droits dérivés et Evénements à France Télévisions.
Après la chirurgie ORL et les conseils gynécologiques à la télévision, le voilà qui s’essaye à la psychologie, façon expert pour police de la pensée…
