Daniel Cohn-Bendit avait hier les honneurs du quotidien belge Le Soir. Au cours de ce long entretien, l’ex-leader soixante-huitard aborde son avenir : « J’aimerais bien écrire un bouquin sur l’identité juive – pas l’identité juive en général, mais la mienne.«
Et de poursuivre :
« Longtemps, je me suis considéré come un « juif sartrien » : « Ce sont les autres qui me font juif ». Mais en fait, c’est faux… Je suis un Juif de la diaspora. Donc une citoyenneté universelle, sans frontière, ce qui explique mon positionnement européen. Israël change la nature des Juifs. Pour moi, Israël, c’est la fin des Juifs. Pour moi, un Juif comme je le comprends, c’est un Juif de la diaspora. L’idée de ce livre est de montrer ce que tout cela veut dire, en prenant le Bund (mouvement socialiste juif sous le tsarisme, qui s’oppose au sionisme comme au bolchévisme), en racontant l’histoire de personnages comme Marek Edelman, le dernier survivant de la révolte du ghetto de Varsovie – qui est toujours resté en Pologne, qui n’est pas israélien. Tout cela en réfléchissant sur l’antisémitisme, sur les relations avec l’islam…«
