L’armée britannique a longtemps été considérée comme l’une des meilleures armées au monde. Encore un mythe qui s’effondre. Plus de 32.000 militaires du Royaume-Uni ont échoué aux tests physiques élémentaires…
La raison essentielle de cette mauvaise condition physique de cette armée professionnelle ? L’obésité ! Des milliers de soldats anglais et écossais sont jugés « trop gros pour combattre« .
La situation des régiments d’infanterie écossais est particulièrement inquiétante. La « malbouffe » ne fait pas de distinction entre civils et militaires. Les mauvaises habitudes alimentaires se répandent et se conjuguent à un manque d’activités physiques.
« Ce chiffre de 32.000 soldats représente 11 % des effectifs de l’armée ayant servi sur cette période et beaucoup d’entre eux ont réussi le test par la suite« , relativise le porte-parole du ministère de la Défense. Certes, mais il ne pouvait en être autrement car l’armée ne pouvait pas éliminer plus de 10 % de ses effectifs. Toutes les armées d’Europe de l’Ouest sont touchées par ce fléau et ferment les yeux sur les véritables résultats des tests de rattrapage…
