Chili – Le Sanctuaire de Lourdes de la commune de Quinta Normal (Santiago du Chili) a été la cible d’une attaque profanatoire menée par un commando anarchiste. Les faits datent du 5 juin. Neuf cocktails molotov et des bombes de peinture ont visés le sanctuaire.
Fort heureusement, les cocktails molotov n’ont pas atteint leur objectif et n’ont fait que très peu de dégâts. Ce sont finalement les bombes de peinture qui ont occasionné le plus de déprédations.
Les plus grands dommages se situent à l’entrée de la Basilique du Sanctuaire et à l’entrée de la grotte.
Le frère assomptionniste Ramon Gutierrez, directeur du sanctuaire, a expliqué que les portes de la basilique étant en métal, elles ont résisté au liquide incendiaire et que le pire a été évité. « C’est une attaque contre la communauté chrétienne » a-t-il insisté.
Les graffitis qui signent l’attaque ne laissent place à aucun doute sur la motivation antichrétienne des auteurs.
Le Cardinal Ricardo Ezzati, Archevêque de Santiago, a envoyé une lettre de soutien à la communauté religieuse et paroissiale du Sanctuaire de Lourdes, dénonçant cette » violence insensée « .
