Bien qu’approuvée par une large majorité des membres du Parlement, la résolution sur « les droits fondamentaux des personnes d’ascendance africaine en Europe » a suscité quelques répliques courageuses. Notons celle du député européen bulgare Angel Dzhambazki :
« Moi, je représente ici le peuple bulgare et je voudrais dire que les droits des citoyens bulgares sont tout aussi importants » que celle des Africains.
« Je crois que la défense des droits de ces personnes doit être l’affaire du continent africain. Nous, nous devons nous occuper de nos propres citoyens ! »
