L’entreprise américaine de bandes dessinées DC Comics s’apprêtait à publier une nouvelle série mettant en scène Jésus-Christ en tant que coéquipier d’un super-héros « tout-puissant ».
Le contenu scandaleux et blasphématoire de cette bande dessinée ne faisait aucun doute.
Selon Fox News, la bande dessinée « Second Coming » « explique pourquoi Jésus a quitté la Terre pour la première fois et revient encore ». L’auteur, Mark Russell, avait récemment expliqué sur quoi reposait le scénario blasphématoire de sa bande dessinée : « Dieu était tellement en colère contre la performance de Jésus la première fois qu’il est venu sur Terre. Il a été arrêté si tôt et crucifié peu de temps après, qu’il l’a depuis gardé enfermé. »
Pouvez-vous imaginer le scandale médiatique et politique si DC Comics avait émis le projet de se moquer de la sorte de l’islam ou du judaïsme ?
Mais une pétition internationale en ligne avait fait son apparition pour demander à DC Comics de ne pas publier cette bande dessinée.
Grâce à cette mobilisation, c’est chose faite ! L’éditeur, le scénariste Mark Russell et le dessinateur Richard Pace ont conjointement annoncé que Second Coming ne sera plus publié chez Vertigo. DC Comics a annoncé avoir rendu les droits du titre à l’équipe créative, qui recherche actuellement un autre éditeur pour en prendre la charge – plusieurs s’étant hélas montré intéressés selon les déclarations du scénariste.
Mark Russell a déclaré que Second Coming paraîtrait chez un autre éditeur pour ne pas avoir à modifier le contenu.
La mobilisation chrétienne a donc emporté une bataille mais d’autres suivront.
