Etats-Unis – La police New York a arrêté 71 personnes, – dont un rabbin, deux policiers, deux infirmiers et un chef scout – accusées d’avoir acheté ou distribué de la pornographie infantile sur internet.
Baptisée «Caireen», cette opération policière menée par le HSI (Homeland Security Investigations), la branche chargée des enquêtes au sein du Département de la sécurité intérieure (DHS), est le résultat d’une longue enquête avec infiltration dans les réseaux pédophiles qui s’échangent leurs fichiers informatiques.
«Le volume d’individus soupçonnés (…) est choquant, et le milieu professionnel de beaucoup des accusés est troublant. Nous ne pouvons plus dire que les seuls qui s’en prennent à des enfants sont des chômeurs à la dérive», a déclaré James T. Hayes, agent en charge du bureau du HSI à New York.
Le chef scout entraînait aussi des enfants au baseball. Un des policiers était le chef de la police de sa localité, un des accusés était également jeune homme «au pair», un autre était personnel médical d’urgence, a souligné le HSI dans un communiqué.
Parmi les personnes arrêtées, l’un avait déjà été condamné pour agression d’enfant. Une maman est par ailleurs accusée d’avoir diffusé des images pédophiles mettant en scène son propre enfant.
«Ces images ne sont pas simplement des photos et des vidéos. Elle sont la preuve de l’abus physique et psychologique d’enfants», a souligné le procureur fédéral de Manhattan Preet Bharara.
