L’individu qui a ouvert le feu mardi soir, aux alentours de 20h, aux abords du marché de Noël de Strasbourg, est identifié comme étant Chérif C, un homme de 29 ans, d’origine maghrébine.
Fiché S depuis 2016 par la direction générale de la sécurité intérieure (DGSI), il est originaire du quartier de Neudorf, qui a été quadrillé par les forces de police jusqu’à 4 heures du matin. Connu pour ses liens avec les milieux islamistes de Strasbourg, il a surtout été condamné pour des faits de droits commun, notamment de nombreux braquages en France et en Allemagne.
Chérif C. est décrit comme un criminel « au passé judiciaire lourd », ayant déjà fait l’objet de 20 condamnations. D’après Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace, « Chérif C. aurait été condamné en 2011 à deux ans de prison, dont six mois ferme pour avoir agressé un adolescent avec un tesson de bouteille« .
En prison, il s’était fait remarquer pour violences et prosélytisme islamiste. Il était suivi par les services de renseignements suite à sa »radicalisation dans sa pratique » religieuse.
Mardi matin, Chérif C. avait échappé à une perquisition à domicile menée par des gendarmes. Il devait être placé en garde à vue dans le cadre d’une tentative d’homicide en lien avec un braquage. Ses autres complices ont tous été interpellés lors de ce coup de filet. Au cours de la perquisition, les gendarmes avaient découvert des grenades.
A l’heure où nous publions cet article, l’individu est toujours en fuite et activement recherché par les forces de l’ordre. Plus de 600 hommes seraient mobilisés, dont les forces anti-terroristes. Avant de prendre la fuite en taxi, il a été blessé par une patrouille de soldats engagés dans l’opération Sentinelle. La photo du suspect a été confirmée par une source policière.
Une enquête est ouverte pour « assassinats, tentatives d’assassinats en relation avec une entreprise terroriste et association de malfaiteurs terroriste criminelle ».
