Ne s’autorise-t-on pas trop facilement aujourd’hui de « croire en la science » pour se dispenser à peu de frais de philosophie comme aussi de théologie ? Et d’ailleurs, sait-on ce qu’est la science ou brandit-on son nom comme un fétiche pour apaiser notre conscience ? Platon avouait volontiers qu’il était plus facile de dire ce que la science n’est pas plutôt que ce qu’elle est ! La philosophie de la connaissance de saint Thomas et son regard sur la science permettent d’y voir plus clair et d’éviter les erreurs de perspective grossières où tombent jusqu’aux plus prestigieux savants quand ils sont, comme Stephen Hawking, trop peu philosophes…
